Meigu Lake is the drowned heart of Chapter 7, a hub of docks, islands and a frozen mirror where the White Serpent House keeps its Eye. The region gates several True Ending flags, so the order you clear it in matters more than the fights themselves.

Story Context

Meigu is the drowned hub of docks, islands, a songhouse, and the frozen Four Guardians’ Mirror. The Blackwater Crew and You Loong rule the water; Yan Qiansui sings at the Songhouse; Heartpiercer guards the White Serpent House; four Acolytes hold the masks that open the Phantom Illusionist Ruins.

You arrive by Sha-Chi Powered Boat from Pangzhen, carrying the Serpent House errand that sends Soul to the Red, Black and White Serpent Houses for the Tongue, Fang and Eye. Meigu supplies the White Serpent Eye — and, if you do the work, the masks and Pillar progress that the True Ending checks later.

Step-by-Step Route

  1. Reach Meigu by Sha-Chi Powered Boat. Ring Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Dock, the Lóng Pillar, and Frozen Lake Dock as you go.
  2. Village of Lu Shallows Dock. Defeat Grief-Stricken Jin for the Embroidered Shoes. Optional here: the One-Eyed Archer and You Loong.
  3. Meigu Songhouse. Collect the six Yan’er Memory Flowers. Optional boss: Yan Qiansui, who drops Pipa Strings.
  4. White Serpent House. Defeat Heartpiercer for the Sundering Dual Axes and the White Serpent Eye.
  5. Meigu Village East Dock. Optional boss: Acolyte Guhe, who drops the Venom Mask.
  6. Four Guardians’ Mirror. With four masks in hand, enter the Phantom Illusionist Ruins. Do Lóng Pillar 4 here. Optional: the Blizzard Blademaster, who drops Whiteshadow.
  7. Midlake Lóng Pillar Dock. Do Lóng Pillar 3. Optional: the Gold-Masked One (third of four).
  8. Finish the Heart of the Lake ritual, repair the Pipa, and play it at the Spectral Gate.

That sequence front-loads the mandatory boss and the Eye, then leaves the mask-gated mirror content for when you actually hold the masks.

Mandatory Bosses

Boss Location Reward Notes
Grief-Stricken Jin Shallows Dock Embroidered Shoes Mandatory flag is [MED] in the sources
Heartpiercer White Serpent House Sundering Dual Axes, White Serpent Eye The Eye is the region’s key drop

Grief-Stricken Jin’s mandatory status is flagged [MED] in the research — treat the fight as required and don’t route around it.

Heartpiercer is the fight that matters. Keep your Sha-Chi above 100 and guard the streams rather than trying to out-trade them; the dual axes punish greedy punishes.

Optional Bosses

  • One-Eyed Archer — One-Eyed Isle. Drops the One-Eyed Bow. Close the gap and dodge on the red aim tell.
  • You Loong (frenzied) — Blackwater Dock. Drops the Loong Trident and a High-Power Pump. Circle the trident and punish the thrust.
  • Yan Qiansui — Songhouse. Drops Illusory Pipa Strings and a Fanatic’s Fragment: Attachment. Arrive at full HP; dodge the notes and close in.
  • Acolyte Guhe — Meigu Village East Dock. Drops the Venom Mask. Leave the poison cloud and cleanse.
  • Gold-Masked One (3/5) — Midlake Lóng Pillar. Drops the Quenched Flaming Grip.
  • Gold-Masked One (4/5) — Phantom Illusionist Ruins. Counts toward Bloodline progress.
  • Blizzard Blademaster — Whiteshadow’s Fall. Drops Whiteshadow. Ring the bell first, then dodge freeze and red attacks.

The four Acolytes are spread across four regions: Yanru (Village of Lu), Lei Ting (Pangzhen), Guhe (Meigu), and Hansui (Crimson Manor). Only Guhe is in Meigu. Hansui also drops the Yang Eye, so the fourth mask and the second Crystal Eye come from the same Crimson Manor encounter.

Tales and Collectibles

Meigu’s collectible load is lighter than Crimson Forest’s, but the mask and Pillar work is the real content.

  • Six Yan’er Memory Flowers at the Meigu Songhouse.
  • Four Acolyte Masks total across the game; Guhe’s Venom Mask is the Meigu one.
  • Lóng Pillars 3 and 4 — Midlake Lóng Pillar Dock and the Phantom Illusionist Ruins respectively.
  • White Serpent Eye from Heartpiercer.
  • Pipa Strings from Yan Qiansui, used in the Pipa repair.

The Bloodline Awakening quest needs all five Lóng Pillars: Weeping, Crimson, Meigu east island, Phantom Illusionist Ruins, and Mirage Estate. Meigu contributes two of the five, so a missed Pillar here cannot be recovered later without returning.

What Is Missable Before Leaving

Meigu sits before the Mirage cutoff, so everything here is technically missable if you rush the Green Serpent House. Before you leave:

  • Defeat Heartpiercer and take the White Serpent Eye.
  • Defeat Grief-Stricken Jin.
  • Collect all six Yan’er Memory Flowers at the Songhouse.
  • Defeat Acolyte Guhe for the Venom Mask.
  • Complete Lóng Pillar 3 at Midlake and Lóng Pillar 4 in the Phantom Illusionist Ruins.
  • Clear the optional bosses you want: One-Eyed Archer, You Loong, Yan Qiansui, Blizzard Blademaster, Gold-Masked 3/4.
  • Finish the Heart of the Lake ritual, repair the Pipa, and play it at the Spectral Gate.

Next Region

From Meigu you head to the Mountain of Imprisonment, north of the lake, for the Yin Crystal Eye — the counterpart to the Yang Eye from Crimson Manor. Both eyes are needed to enter the mirror in west Meigu and place them. If you still owe the Yang Eye and Hansui’s Frost Mask, detour to Crimson Manor before committing to the Mountain.

The full region sequence and boss order are laid out in the walkthrough and boss order guides; if you are chasing the platinum, the missables checklist tracks the seven missable trophies against these cutoffs.

Sources & confidence

Primary sources are PowerPyx’s played route and True Ending guide, Fextralife’s Game Progress Route and New Game Plus pages, and the pbz.gg boss database, cross-checked against KeenGamer’s boss list and kungfupunk’s walkthrough. The biggest uncertainty is the Meigu-versus-Mountain region order: data-mined tables put Mountain first, while PowerPyx’s played order and the geography favor Meigu first, so this guide follows Meigu → Mountain and flags the numbering as [MED]. Grief-Stricken Jin’s mandatory status is likewise [MED] rather than confirmed.
