A lone swordsman on the misty steps of a mountain temple

The oath

“I have sixty-six days. I intend to spend them well.”

Phantom Blade Zero is a wuxia action RPG about a dying blade and a conspiracy that outlives empires. Our guides follow the same rule as a good duel: no wasted motion.

How we write guides

The arsenal

Every blade has a philosophy.

One-handed balance, dual-wield pressure, two-handed ruin. Learn the moveset before you spend a single upgrade.

One-Handed

Balanced speed and reach. The honest blade — parry, step in, and punish.

  • —Sanguine
  • —Soft Snake Sword
  • —Tianxuan Bronze Sword

Dual-Wield

Pressure without pause. Lower per-hit damage, but the meter fills fast.

  • —Sanguine Twin
  • —White Serpent & Crimson Viper
  • —Baishan Stormswords

Two-Handed

Slow, committed, ruinous. Every swing is a promise you have to keep.

  • —Sanguine Reach
  • —Outlaw Warblade
  • —Juggernaut

Before you ask

Answers from the road

The questions that decide whether you restart, respec, or push on.

Is Phantom Blade Zero a soulslike?

It borrows the tension of a soulslike — deliberate attacks, punishing mistakes, checkpoint bells — but its combat is faster and more offensive. Parrying, Sha-Chi techniques, and weapon Power Surges reward aggression rather than turtling. If you can play Sekiro, you can play this; if you only play turn-based RPGs, start on the lower difficulty and learn the parry window first.

How long does Phantom Blade Zero take to beat?

Most players finish the main story in 20–30 hours. A main-plus-optional run lands around 35–45 hours, and a completionist run with all Tales, collectibles, and the true ending is closer to 55–70 hours. Difficulty and boss retries are the biggest variables.

How many chapters and regions are there?

The story spans 12 chapters across nine named regions, from Weeping Creek Valley to Mount Soulrend. Mirage Estate sits inside the Pangzhen chapter block; that is why some guides count eight regions and others count nine.

Can you miss the true ending?

Yes. The true ending depends on several optional threads — the Acolyte Masks, the serpent relics, the Long Pillar trials, and a handful of Tales that close when you enter Mirage Estate or cross the final point of no return. Our true-ending checklist lists every requirement in deadline order.

Does Phantom Blade Zero have difficulty options?

Yes. The game offers adjustable difficulty, and you can change it during play. Higher difficulties tighten parry windows and enemy damage; lower difficulties give you more room to learn patterns. There is also a separate “Sixty-Six Days” challenge mode after completion.

Is there multiplayer, co-op, or New Game Plus?

Phantom Blade Zero is a single-player game with no co-op or PvP. It does have New Game Plus, which carries weapons and upgrades into a harder run and unlocks additional progression. There is no launch boss rush mode.
